home staging
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. My house is already on the market.  Is it too late for home staging?

Absolutely not! While it is best to stage a home before it is presented for sale, homes that have not been staged often end up on the market for a longer period of time. Staging may be exactly what the home needs in order to be reintroduced with a fresh face.

Q. How does home staging affect the price of a home?

When determining an asking price, there is often a range within which the home will be considered marketable. Within that range, a staged home will likely attract more offers (as buyers are comparing it to other homes on the market). More offers are likely to result in a sale that is very near and sometimes more than the asking price.

Q. How long does it take to stage a home?

It depends on what needs to be done to put the home in its most marketable state. It could be as little as one day. Sometimes more extensive repairs are necessary or painting is suggested and these take longer.

Q. My home is vacant. Should it be staged?

YES! Buyers need to see how their furniture will fit into your home. Staging it with accessories and perhaps some furniture vignettes allow the buyers to assess the scale of the house as well as bringing warmth and friendliness to the rooms.

Q. I know my house needs a few repairs. Should I fix them or sell the house "as is"?

Generally buyers are interested in homes in which they feel they can move in easily without doing extensive work. The work they are willing to do is that which makes it their own (their own décor, color preferences, etc.)

Q. Why should I put money into a house I won't be living in?

If you were to trade in your car you would likely detail it first so that it looks its best before a trade-in value is established. Your home is likely your largest investment and deserves the same respect.

Q. I know I have too much stuff. What do I do with it all?

Since you will be moving anyway, and needing to pack up your items, we encourage you to start packing now as part of the staging process. Our team will help you determine where to store those items that are packed safely away.

Q. Can I do the home staging myself?

We encourage you to take part in the staging process. As we have a trained eye for what will make the home most presentable, our consultation will help guide your efforts for the best results. Remember that a properly priced home that is staged will likely sell for close to (sometimes more) than the list price because it attracts more offers. Any investment in staging, therefore, can be recovered in the final sale of your home. In fact you will enjoy what we do so much that you will likely ask us to set up your new home!
